School Nutrition Association

President's Message

If this is your first time browsing our website, welcome!  From professional development or training opportunities and networking events to process improvement opportunities specific to school nutrition operations, membership in ILSNA will serve you well!   Check out our membership section for more information.

If you’ve stopped by before, welcome back!  You’ve likely noticed a few changes and upgrades to our website since your last visit.  Don’t stay away too long…there’s more to come!

Do you have any ideas for us?  We’d love to hear them!  Whether it’s a suggested change to our website or possibilities for future conferences, other education-based events, member services, etc…, we need to know what interests you; give us a call or send an e-mail!

Having served on the ILSNA Board for nearly 10 years I’ve been fortunate to have met so many individuals that are passionate about school food service, are truly committed to positively impacting the health of the students they serve, and with just the right amount of compassion, helps his/her peers - as a friend, mentor, or coach.

Over the past few years I’ve found that for the most part, district size doesn’t have to matter.  Our issues are often the same and our solutions may be a bit different, but it’s our blending that helps us achieve our optimum end – which we can attain through better understanding.    Sometimes it’s preconception that sets us apart.  Whoever said you can’t put a square peg in a round hole was framed by learned boundaries – after all, a little whittling away at the corners of the square results in a round peg!

As the Association moves forward, it is my ongoing desire to see that the School Nutrition Association is one to all, meaning it is a tenable value to all those working in the field of school nutrition.  The benefits may not be immediately obvious but they  do become tangible in time.
